An adventure, doing things you don’t normally have as part of your life. Normal for Gwen and Kurt is getting up at 5:00 AM which means we are also laying our head on a pillow by 9:30 PM at the latest. Our travels began with a red-eye departure at nearly midnight with attempts to sleep on our flight to Houston. For those with devices that track your sleep, our sleep scores were 45(G ) and 40 (K) . Normal scores are 73 (G) and 85(K). All of this to say, our current state of alertness is down a tidge. We successfully managed our port of entry into Honduras with no issues and found we can recharge our batteries (quick nap sitting in a chair or wherever the need for sleep overtakes your consciousness). Back to current-time travel status. Sleep was really good last night (for Kurt) at the Rainbow Hotel in La Ceiba. Kurt arose early at 3:50 AM to ensure needed prep in place and on time breakfast at 4:30 AM. Our hostess, Barbara, makes the best German food and breakfast was no different- delicious! Fresh tropical fruit and German breakfast sausage – Yum. We were serenaded by a local bird that sounded similar to a mocking bird I’ve listened to in Sacramento. Beautiful music with a quirky sound added at the end of each refrain. Kind of like listening to a light stroking of piano keys forming a beautiful melody and then a sharp whistle or buzz to round it out – quirky but fun to listen to. We arrived at the airport to check in at a little after 5:00 AM and now we wait for our previously unknown departure time of 8:30 AM a la Puerta Lempira and Casa del Camino. Gwen is currently recharging get batteries and now the coffee shop is open – time for another coffee. ๐Ÿ™‚

Part 2 – mid morning and still no plane. Now it may be 11:00? More hurry up and wait. Neither of us was in the army, but it is not in Gwen’s DNA to sit around all day. Doing nothing is hard. Kurt has supported the local economy by buying snacks from airport kiosks. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿฅชโ˜•๐Ÿช๐Ÿงƒ๐Ÿฅœ… Saw a cool big bird (like a black eagle) flying around at the airport, soaring and gliding on the air currents. When you are forced to sit still, you start to notice things around you… there are lots of noises at an airport, lots of voices and machine and ventilation sounds. There are friendly people who smile and even say hello or good morning in English, there is music from a variety of sources (sound systems and phones), there is a little bird who keeps coming by outside looking for bugs, there are green trees and clouds outside, there was a nice person making sure we did not miss a flight in case we did not understand the announcement (it was not our flight, but it was nice to know someone was making sure we were OK). It is an interesting process to be still. Ok, we boarded a 3 passenger Cessna to fly over the jungle to Puerta Lempira, we are taxiing , this is part of something we don’t normally do, thus the adventure. ๐Ÿ˜
